Atlantic Technical Center in Coconut Creek, Fort Lauderdale High School, Nova High School in Davie, Pompano Beach High School Institute, Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale and William T. McFatter Technical Center in Davie were all awarded silver medal recognition.
Nine schools in the Dade County School District were also recognized by the report: Coral Reef Senior High School in Miami, Design & Architectural Senior High in Miami, Doral Academy High School in Miami, Mast Academy in Miami, Mater Academy Charter High in Hialeah Gardens, Miami Lakes Educational Center in Hialeah, New World School of the Arts in Miami, Robert Morgan Educational Center in Miami and William H. The rankings put the schools in the top percentages of schools that were studied in the report, which is published by U.S. News and World Report.
The report looks at how prepared students are for college, through Advanced Placement results and proficiency rates. The study takes the percentage of economically disadvantaged students into consideration to see how the school is performing compared to the state average.
